Goro Akechi has shaggy chin-length brown hair with bangs, and reddish-brown eyes. He typically wears a tan peacoat with black buttons, accompanied with a striped black and white tie, black trousers, and black gloves.

Another of his regular outfits that he wears includes a regular shirt accompanied with a blue vest over the top. He is also known to wear blazers regularly, seeing himself to be quite a 'smart dresser.' There is very little messing around with his clothes, as he enjoys the formality that comes with such.

As Crow, Akechi wears a princely pure white royal outfit with red accents and a red, long-nosed mask. His mask motif resembles that of a medieval western plague doctor, but in keeping with Akechi being as proud as a tengu, it's also got a long nose. His image is a combination of a noble's attire and a uniform worn by cavalry or guards of honor. As with his Robin Hood Persona, it's meant to give the feeling of putting on the air of a champion of justice, with nothing to do with being a Phantom Thief, robber or burglar of any sort, invoking the image of being at the front of a stage to contrast the protagonist's image of being more of a backstage actor. The outfit was mostly made to stick out from the rest.

During his fight with the Phantom Thieves, Akechi swaps his princely garb for a body-covering black and purple striped outfit. In this form, he has several black belts strapped around his legs and arms. Along with this, Akechi wears a dark enclosed knight helmet, similar to plate armor, with a deep crimson mask which resembles a sharp beak. It is a rather chaotic outfit, and following his reformation, Akechi attempts to not wear it anymore unless driven to the point of insanity.

personality

Initially, Goro Akechi held a very cynical and jaded view of the world, due to his rough upbringing. Being abandoned by his father and losing his mother to suicide as a result of this, he found that he had nothing. Due to being constantly bounced between foster homes, Akechi felt as if he was entirely unwanted. This feeling was preyed upon by divine beings, finding him to be an ideal candidate for their schemes, and filled his head with bad intentions that he would retain. With his father being the reason for his life crashing down before it could properly begin, Akechi held a grudge for a long time, vowing that because he had nothing to lose, he would one day ruin his father and his name.

To the public eye, Akechi appears to be a very charismatic and pleasant individual, who is always willing to talk to anybody who may approach him. He comes across as very polite and friendly, often giving his advice and thoughts on matters, even when not pressed to do so. His popularity stems from a line of cases that he solved, earning him the moniker of 'The Second Coming of the Detective Prince.'

However, behind closed doors, Akechi is an extremely lonely individual who desperately yearns for attention and love, due to never experiencing it during his upbringing. This is evident through his interactions with Shido, where he is treated horribly and even threatened if he showed opposition. His public 'persona' is that of a mask, hiding his deep thoughts in the fear that it will push people away. His willingness to talk to people comes from his joy of socialising and feeling accepted, and he believes that people only care about him because of the mask he wears. This is further backed up when he is incorrect about a case or opposes the thoughts of others, because his 'followers' will show no hesitation to badmouth him and abandon his cause.

Ultimately, Akechi is driven by his wish for justice, as he hopes for his father to suffer for what he did, and believes that bringing him down is righteous. Much like the Phantom Thieves, Akechi operates outside of the law, often being the cause for the cases that he solves. However, he openly opposes them, as he believes that they are unjust in the way that they change people's hearts. As time progressed, Akechi experienced a change of heart, and grew to realise that they were not so different in their hopes and wishes, and that they were all working towards a similar goal. Because of this, he was willing to sacrifice himself to ensure that the Thieves would bring down his father, and his 'mission' would be complete.

After escaping from Shido's palace, Akechi seeked to atone for his sins, knowing that what he had done in the past was unjust, and he had been blinded in his search for justice that he had ruined the lives of others. He feels extreme guilt for what he did. It was only thanks to the divine intervention of another being that Akechi realised it was not too late to change his life and outlook. He looks to form bonds and rectify his past, while continuing to reform society, both as a justice-seeking detective and a member of the Phantom Thieves.

The two share quite a troubled past, with Akechi initially being very jealous of Akira, due to Akira being so popular despite having a bad reputation. Despite their troubled past, they were willing to put aside their differences for the sake of a mission. As time has passed, the two have gradually grown closer, with Akechi always feeling comfortable talking to Akira about his issues.

While the other members of the Phantom Thieves seemed less willing to give Akechi a second chance and understand him, Makoto wished to give him the chance to redeem himself, and reminded him that she was very much there for him. She often protects him from the 'bullying' of the other Thieves members, and tries to be present when he is in need of help, when loneliness strikes.

After the revelation of Akechi's involvement in her mother's passing, Futaba found it very difficult to face him, and initially wanted nothing to do with him. After meeting him in the graveyard on Mother's Day, the two faced their pasts together, with Futaba telling Akechi that she didn't hate him anymore, but she couldn't absolve him of guilt. However, she found herself more able to talk to him, realising how powerless Akechi had been in the situation.

After the two came across one another, Akechi offered to explain himself entirely to Haru, to let her know of the circumstances behind her father's death, and how he had been nothing more than a pawn in the grand plan of Shido, and the organisation had planned to remove Okumura regardless. Although she could not forgive him and absolve him of blame for the passing of her father, Haru was willing to listen to his tale, with the two making a promise to one another; they would track down all of those who were involved in her father's murder and make them realise the error of their ways. The two gradually became closer as they spent time together.

โ€ฃ Akechi loves to cycle around Shibuya, having a specifically made hybrid bicycle for easy turning in the Tokyo streets. He will often ride around time when given the chance for spare time, seeing it both a chance to relax, and to take in the sights of the wonderful city around him.

โ€ฃ He has a terribly habit of getting lost during the middle of conversations, easily losing himself to his own thoughts.

โ€ฃ Akechi knows practically all of the hidden stores and restaurants in Tokyo, often visiting them to try and find out about the latest popular dishes, which he will often use in discussions when he is unsure as to what else to talk about.

โ€ฃ He enjoys fashionable games, such as snooker or darts.

โ€ฃ Goro doesn't mind waiting in lines at all, seeing it as an act of formality that one must abide by.

โ€ฃ His favourite place to drink coffee is in quiet areas where he won't be hounded by media or obsessive 'fangirls.' He was originally taken to Cafe Leblanc by Sae Niijima, where he found that he enjoyed the drinks served by Sojiro Sakura. He formed quite an addiction to coffee as a result, using it to help him through the nights where he couldn't properly sleep.

โ€ฃ Because he spends so many hours writing up cases, which he despises due to how dull it can become, Akechi has a horrible sleep schedule, often sleeping during the early hours of the morning and waking himself up just in time for meetings.

โ€ฃ Goro has taken an interest in gardening as of late due to his friendship with Haru. Because of this, he has a row of flowers on his windowsill in his study.

โ€ฃ He is not a fan of the rain, often carrying an umbrella around with him. If he is accompanied by someone else, he will hand them the umbrella out of selflessness.

โ€ฃ When it comes to romance, Akechi would be extremely introverted due to his lack of understanding positive emotions. He would be unaware of how to properly show romantic feelings or affection towards people.

โ€ฃ Occasionally, his politeness and kindness can be mistaken for flirting, which is not the case at all.

โ€ฃ Within his shirt pocket, he holds a small locket, containing a picture of his mother before her unfortunate demise. He never leaves home without this.

โ€ฃ Originally against the ideas of the Phantom Thieves as he believed that their ideology was unjust, revelations made to him during his journey changed Akechi's outlook upon the group. Once considering them to be his rivals, he now wishes to work alongside the group, hoping to bring justice and righteousness to the city of Tokyo.

โ€ฃ He has taken to playing shogi against Hifumi on his phone, constantly trying to improve for their next meeting.

โ€ฃ Akechi has a fear of deep water, stemming from his mother's suicide and his father's palace.

โ€ฃ He enjoys doing karaoke, as he has little thought about throwing himself into the deep end and often embarrasses himself.

The Phantom Thieves of Hearts are a group of allies who are able to use personas, and aim to use them to reform the crumbling and corrupt society of Shibuya. With this ability, they are able to steal people's desires, and force someone to confess to their horrible crimes. While the group initially disbanded following the events of the game, it re-formed on April 20th.

They aim to steal the hearts of the terrible adults who continue to plague the city of Tokyo, and ensure that they can live in peace without constant harassment. Whether it be from past mistakes that continue to follow them, or gathered intel about new situations, they will always be present to ensure that a swift dose of justice is felt to those who oppose them.

Robin Hood - Justice:
Robin Hood is a heroic outlaw in English folklore who, according to legend, was a highly skilled archer and swordsman. Traditionally depicted as being dressed in Lincoln green, he is often portrayed as "robbing from the rich and giving to the poor" alongside his band of Merry Men. Robin Hood became a popular folk figure in the late-medieval period, and continues to be widely represented in literature, films and television.

Robin Hood is the persona that Akechi uses while working with the Phantom Thieves. As it is not his initial Persona, it is much less trained. However, following the events of Shido's Palace, he has opted to start using it more, seeing it as a way of redeeming himself with a 'new beginning.'

Loki - Justice:
Loki is Akechi's initial Persona, gifted to him through the backing of Yaldabaoth two years before the events of Persona 5. It is his most experienced Persona, and was used in the fateful killing of many innocent people. As a way of moving on from his darkened past, Akechi is making an effort to not use Loki as much. However, if any of his 'friends' are in danger, he will not hesitate to switch and use it. His ability to induce states of berserk rage is revealed by Akechi to be the source of the strange epidemic of sudden assaults, a product of Akechi's experiments with the Metaverse.

During Akechi's escape from Shido's Palace, Loki was the reason for Akechi surviving, as it took the bullet that his cognitive self fired. During this, due to the weakened state after having just come out of a fight with the party, Loki became partially fractured, sustaining a wound that would never heal.
